Moon phases and tithis
The Moon’s phase depends on the angle between the Sun and the Moon. The Hindu calendar divides that angle into 30 tithis of 12° each: the 15 of the waxing half (Shukla Paksha) end at Purnima, the full moon, and the 15 of the waning half (Krishna Paksha) end at Amavasya, the new moon.
Phase times are the astronomical moments and are the same worldwide; we show them in your chosen city’s local time.
