Editorial standards
People use AstroMandap to time a puja, choose a festival date or read a sacred text. These are the standards we hold ourselves to.
Calculations
- Every calculator runs on documented conventions (Lahiri ayanamsha, whole-sign houses, mean nodes, local sunrise). The full list is on our calculation method page.
- Before publishing, results are checked against independent published references: planetary ingress and retrograde dates, festival dates from widely used Panchangs, and sunrise-based puja timings.
- Festival dates follow the classical rules for each observance (for example, the tithi prevailing at sunrise, midday, pradosh or midnight). Where traditions disagree, we say so on the page.
Devotional texts and translations
- Sanskrit and Hindi texts are taken from public-domain editions and checked against standard printed versions. Known textual variants are noted.
- English and Hindi translations are our own, written to be faithful and readable. They avoid sectarian commentary and are not copied from copyrighted translations.
- Puja guides describe widely followed household practice. Customs differ by region, community and family, and your family’s tradition or priest takes precedence.
Astrological interpretation
- Our readings and reports apply fixed, published classical rules (mainly Parashari, with Jaimini, KP and Lal Kitab in their own sections) to your chart. They describe the tendencies and timing that tradition associates with each placement — never certainties — and we avoid fear-based language about doshas, Sade Sati or difficult periods.
- Relationship timing is shown only for adults, and we never predict illness, accidents, death, divorce or financial ruin.
- Nothing on this site is medical, legal, financial or psychological advice. See our disclaimer.
How content is produced
Pages are researched and written by the AstroMandap team. We use software tools, including AI-assisted drafting and translation, and every calculation and text is checked against the sources above before it is published. Each guide shows the date it was last updated.
Remedies
Our reports include traditional remedies — gemstones, mantras, charity, fasting and Lal Kitab upay — for readers who wish to follow them. We present them as tradition: no outcome can be promised, they are never a substitute for medical, legal, financial or psychological advice, and we only include remedies that are safe, legal, humane and inexpensive. Where a stone is traditionally tested before regular wear, we say so.
Independence
The site is free and supported by advertising. Advertisers have no influence over our content or calculations. If we ever link to products such as gemstones, the link will be clearly labelled and will not change what a reading recommends.
