How Manglik Dosha is determined
A chart is traditionally called Manglik when Mars occupies the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house. Many South Indian traditions also include the 2nd house — you can switch that convention on in the result. The houses are counted primarily from the Lagna; counting from the Moon and Venus gives a secondary, milder (anshik) form.
Classical cancellations
Texts and practising astrologers cite many exceptions. The calculator checks the most widely published ones: Mars in its own sign (Aries, Scorpio) or exaltation (Capricorn); Mars in Leo or Aquarius; specific house–sign combinations (for example Mars in the 7th in Cancer or Capricorn); Mars conjunct or aspected by Jupiter; and Mars conjunct the Moon. When both partners are Manglik, the doshas are traditionally considered to cancel each other.
Frequently asked questions
Am I Manglik if Mars is in the 7th house from my Moon only?
That is usually called mild or partial (anshik) Manglik. Most astrologers treat the Lagna as the main reference and the Moon and Venus as secondary.
Does Manglik Dosha end at age 28?
This is a popular belief, often linked to Mars’ “age of maturity”, but it is not a standard classical rule, so the calculator does not apply it.
Why do different websites disagree about Manglik Dosha?
They use different house lists (with or without the 2nd house), different reference points (Lagna only, or also Moon and Venus) and different cancellation rules. We show each factor separately so you can see the reason for the result.
What if both partners are Manglik?
