Gemstone Recommendation

In Jyotish, gemstones are linked with the nine planets. Your life stone belongs to your Lagna lord, your lucky stone to the lord of the 5th house and your fortune stone to the lord of the 9th. Enter your birth details to see yours, with affordable substitutes and the traditional way to wear them.

How the stones are chosen

The Lagna, 5th and 9th houses are the most auspicious houses of the chart (kendra and trikona), so the stones of their lords are traditionally considered safe to strengthen. We also list remedies — mantras, charity and fasting — for the planets that are weakest in your chart by a documented strength score.

Strong stones such as blue sapphire are traditionally tried before regular wear. Gemstones are a traditional practice: no outcome can be promised.

Frequently asked questions

Which gemstone should I wear?

Tradition usually starts with the life stone (Lagna lord). The lucky and fortune stones are considered supportive. Consult a knowledgeable person before wearing strong stones.

Can I wear a substitute (uparatna)?

Yes. Substitutes such as garnet for ruby or moonstone for pearl are traditionally used when the main stone is not affordable.
