Using the monthly Panchang
The tithi and nakshatra shown are those in force at local sunrise, which traditionally govern the day. Observances such as Ekadashi, Pradosh, Sankashti Chaturthi, Purnima and Amavasya are listed when their tithi is present that day. For festival dates, which follow more detailed rules, see the festival calendar.
Frequently asked questions
Why do some days show two tithis?
A tithi can be shorter than a day. The table shows the tithi at sunrise; open the day to see when the next tithi begins.
Can a tithi be skipped?
Yes. When a tithi begins after one sunrise and ends before the next, it never touches a sunrise — a kshaya tithi. Occasionally a tithi spans two sunrises instead.
