How Char dasha is calculated

The sequence runs forward or backward from the Lagna depending on the ninth sign. Each sign’s period equals the count from the sign to its lord, minus one, with adjustments for exalted and debilitated lords and special rules for Scorpio and Aquarius. We follow the rules taught by K.N. Rao.

Frequently asked questions

Why do some signs get 12 years?

When a sign’s lord sits in the sign itself, the count is zero, and the rule gives it 12 years.
